In case you missed the show on air, you can watch it again here https://www.hinowdaily.com/the-truth-about-male-infertility-and-cancer/.
November is Men’s Health Awareness Month
November is Men’s Health Awareness Month, also known as Movember, a time to bring awareness to male patients to live a healthy and safe lifestyle and to get their physicals done annually. One is six men are affected by prostate cancer and it is the second leading cause of cancer death in the U.S. Testicular cancer is less common and affects 1 in 270 men.
Join Drs. Frattarelli and Karmon as they discuss fertility treatment options for males diagnosed with cancer. Cancer treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation can damage the testicles which can affect a man’s ability to produce healthy sperm. If caught early enough, male patients may be able to cryopreserve their sperm. If they are not able to do so, having a family through other methods such as using donor sperm, may still be possible.
Here at the Fertility Institute of Hawaii, we specialize in preservation and treat all cancer patients with compassion and the utmost individualized care. With a referral from an oncologist, a patient will be able to schedule an appointment within 24 hours to discuss their options. #FertilityIofHI
