Fertility Options in Hawaii for Canadian Patients

Patients from Canada may choose to seek treatment at the Fertility Institute of Hawaii, due to the restrictions on certain services in their home country.   We have seen a tremendous increase in the number of Canadian patients seen in the last few years.  Because we are located in a popular travel destination and have some of the best pregnancy rates in the world, many Canadians are traveling to the International Institute of Hawaii for their fertility treatment.

Donor Egg In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) cycles in Canada

It is illegal to pay and use anonymous egg donors for eggs in Canada.  This makes the use of donor egg IVF cycles in Canada very difficult to arrange.  There are many psychological issues that are involved when using a known egg donor. Since our success rates rank as some of the best in the world, the Fertility Institute of Hawaii has had many women from Canada travel to Hawaii for Donor Egg IVF cycles.   Using anonymous egg donors allows us to provide our Canadian patients with excellent egg donors and frees them of the psychological stress associated with using a known egg donor.

IVF Canada

Pre-implantation Genetic Screening (PGS) IVF in Canada

PGS or Preimplantation Genetic Screening has several restrictions in Canada but not in the United States.  Using PGS, couples can ensure that their embryos are chromosomally normal prior to embryo transfer with IVF.  While anyone can use PGS in order to ensure that only chromosomally normal embryos are transferred during an IVF cycle, PGS is often used for older couples who have an elevated risk of chromosomally abnormal embryos.   Likewise, couples with a history of miscarriages often utilize PGS to decrease the risk of miscarrying.

Pre-implantation Genetic Screening (PGS) for Family Balancing is restricted in Canada.

PGS not only confirms that the chromosomal compliment of an embryo is normal but also determines the gender of an embryo. Once PGS is completed, couples are allowed to choose the gender of the normal embryos transferred in order to ensure family balancing

Donor Sperm In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) cycles

Since sperm donors cannot be known or paid in Canada, there is a shortage of sperm donors.  Therefore, many couples will travel outside of the country to the U.S. where donors exist in larger numbers, to assist them in family building.   The Fertility Institute of Hawaii can assist you with a Sperm Donor IVF cycle.
