Logan: Our January Baby of the Month

Logan Kaimana was born on December 5, 2020, weighing in at 8 lbs even.

Logan’s parents, Jordan (dad) and Chelsea (mom) married in February 2018 and immediately started trying to conceive. To their surprise and joy, Chelsea became pregnant in May of that year. However, that pregnancy ended in a miscarriage just 6 weeks later. Understandably devastated, they tried to conceive again with no success for over a year following the miscarriage. It was then that Jordan and Chelsea finally decided to seek help from the Fertility Institute of Hawaii.

After a thorough workup and consultation, Dr. Karmon diagnosed Chelsea with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and a blocked left fallopian tube. Per Dr. Karmon’s professional advice, the couple decided that removal of the tube was the best option for possible successful conception and surgery was scheduled for June 2019. During surgery, Dr Karmon did one final check to confirm that the tube was blocked. Amazingly, she discovered that the blockage had cleared, deeming removal of the tube unnecessary. Following the surgery, Jordan and Chelsea tried again to conceive naturally for a few more months with no success before ultimately starting ovulation induction with Femara and IUIs (intrauterine insemination).

It was on their third try that Chelsea got pregnant and went on to deliver a healthy and happy baby boy, Logan Kaimana.
